Rochelle middle school students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extracurricular sports.  Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA and have no major discipline referrals.  Currently, we offer girls basketball, volleyball and track and boys basketball and track.  Practices are held after school, with district-wide games in the evenings.

Other activities include:

  • Elementary Chorus (4th and 5th)
  • Recorders
  • Hand bells
  • Robotics

“Chess helps you to concentrate, improve your logic. It teaches you to play by the rules and take responsibility for your actions, how to problem solve in an uncertain environment.” - Garry Kasparov

The Polk Scholastic Chess program is a nonprofit organization that encourages academic growth through the game of chess. Rochelle supports these efforts by offering an after-school chess club that meets one day a week for our k-8 students. Students pay a membership fee to compete in the tournaments throughout the year, culminating at the Championship Tournament in the spring.
